Tow operator in danger of being removed from rotation list

The Westminster police chief says a towing operator is at danger of losing his spot on the police department’s rotating wrecker call list—unless he complies with a provision in the city’s ordinance.  Chief Dean Awalt said it came to his attention yesterday that Kelly Hardy’s Full Throttle Towing and Recovery business had re-located 1.8 miles outside the city limits.  Awalt says the ordinance requires towing operators on the police call list to be inside the city or within a mile of the city limits.  According to Awalt, Hardy’s business has yet to be removed from the list, but the businessman has been given approximately 90 days to comply if he wishes to keep his spot.  In an interview with 101/7/WGOG NEWS, Hardy said he feels retaliated against for his involvement in promoting cruising. On Hardy’s behalf, Councilwoman Susan Ramey questions the timing.
