U-S flag from combat zone

Sheriff candidate Donnie Fricks reminded Oconee County Council and the meeting audience last night of next week’s 11th anniversary of the attacks by terrorists in New York, Washington, and Pennsylvania. Fricks spoke during council’s public comment session. A former civilian commander of police programs in Afghanistan, Fricks offered a U-S flag that he said is documented to have flown over a combat zone in western Afghanistan, with the request that it be flown by Oconee County in an appropriate way next Tuesday. For the council, Chairman Joel Thrift accepted the flag and promised it will be flown in an appropriate manner.
