Utica situation ends peacefully

An incident yesterday near Seneca ended without injury, although two occupants of a Utica home were taken to the hospital to be evaluated.  County deputies went to a home on Goddard Avenue to investigate the report of a hostage situation.  The “SWAT” team was activated and a command post was set up at the Oconee Community Theatre.  But, following dialogue with a caller inside the home, deputies were able to extract a female from the house and were later able to convince a male to come out, as well.  They decided no one was held without his or her will.  No charges were filed but the Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.
