Utility customers to be allowed to space payments

Walhalla is considering an ordinance to grant relief to some of its utility customers who, for whatever reason, see their monthly bills spike by $100 dollars or more.  Scott Parris, utilities director, urged the city council to pass an ordinance that would allow customers to space part of their obligation over a three-month period.  According to Parris, there are times when a customer allows his water to run continuously.  Water line leaks are also a reason bills jump abruptly.
