Walhalla candidates pitch platforms

Moderator Tim Merrell commented at the end of last night’s Walhalla political forum the event took place without a fistfight. Merrell also noted that of the five of the six council candidates who took part there was agreement among the candidates on issues such as the need for Streetscape and to secure a future water supply for the city. The forum, held at the Depot, began with opening statements and then proceeded to questions submitted by the chamber of commerce. There were about 50 people in the audience. Participating were incumbent candidate Jennifer Crawford and challengers Duane Wilson, Frances Devoe, Chris Grant, and Kathy Rogers. In a letter, a second incumbent, Josh Holliday, apologized for his absence—due to a work-related meeting in Columbia.
