Walhalla Man Facing Firearms Violation

Jeffrey Ray MauldinOconee County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a Walhalla man on charges of unlawful carrying of a firearm. Oconee County Sheriff’s spokesman Jimmy Watt say deputies responded to a report of a shooting in the Seneca area early Monday morning. Deputies spotted a dark colored SUV leaving Halfway Branch Road. The vehicle matched the description of the vehicle reported in connection with the shooting. Deputies stopped the vehicle and searched the two occupants. Deputies searched the vehicle and found a handgun.  The driver, 22 year old Jeffrey Ray Mauldin of Goat Road, Walhalla was arrested and charged with unlawful carrying of a pistol.
