Walhalla requests the county’s help

Oconee County Council referred for more study last night a request from Walhalla to help the city fire department install hydrants outside the city’s corporate limits. At issue is Walhalla’s request for the county to provide up to $37,100 to assist in installing seven hydrants. In response to a question from Chairman Joel Thrift, County Administrator Scott Moulder said the hydrants, though planned for unincorporated areas, are all within the Walhalla Fire Department coverage district.
