Warpath Landing and “a trail of lawsuits”

Lake Keowee property on the Pickens County side has been leased to a development group for nearly nine years, but no construction has been started.  After all this time, a court battle continues involving Warthpath Landing’s original partners in the development group WDI.  The potential for a hotel and conference center concerns “FOLKS”—Friends of Lake Keowee.  There are to be at least 100 boat slips, also.  “It’s too intense a use on 46 acres, and it’s a concern we still hold to,” said Ben Turetsky, FOLKS executive director.  Turetsky’s group has been following the project and learned that the deadline to complete the project by the end of this month has been extended to the year 2046.  In “FOLKS” newsletter, Turetsky quotes Duke Energy, which leased the Warpath Landing Access Area to the developers, as promising it will give a status report by the end of this month to “FERC”—the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.  And it’s a status report that “FOLKS” will watch for.
