Warriors fall in season-opener

The West-Oak Warrior football team lost 31-14 to the Travelers Rest Devildogs Friday night at Warrior Field in Westminster. It was the season opener for both teams, in what is called “Week Zero” of high school football in South Carolina. An hour-long lightning delay resulted in an extended halftime, with Travelers Rest leading 17-7 at that point. The double-wing offense of the Devildogs totaled 374 yards, 240 of them rushing, on the night. West-Oak managed 197 offensive yards. The Warriors head to Walhalla next Friday to face the Razorbacks in the WGOG’s first broadcast game of the season. Kick-off is set for 7:30 PM on 96.3 WGOG and online at wgog.com.
