Water main break leads to advisory

A line break resulting in low pressure has prompted the city of Clemson to issue a boil water advisory for seven residential neighborhoods. Those Clemson water customers at Stone Circle, Ligon Street, Bentbrook subdivision, New Hope Road, Helton Street, Clemson Heights, and Cherry Road to Cherry Crossing are advised to vigorously boil their water for at least one full minute before drinking or cooking until otherwise notified by the city of Clemson. Any ice made from water that has not been boiled should not be used for drinking purposes. The advisory was issued at 4 o’clock yesterday afternoon because of low pressure caused by a water main break on Old Stone Church Road. The city is working to correct the problem and samples have been taken. Test results should be completed at (revised time) 6 o’clock this afternoon.
