West-Oak student’s chance to play the sax in New York
An effort is being made to raise money to help send a West-Oak High band member to New York City for a chance to perform at Carnegie Hall, a showcase for talented musicians. Roman Holder, a West-Oak sophomore, is part of the Carolina Youth Symphony and it is with that group that Roman has the chance to play the saxophone in March at Carnegie Hall. A music event locally this month is planned to raise money for Roman’s trip and, in general, the West-Oak band program. The band, along with Dixie Keys, will perform at 7 o’clock Friday night, January 22 at the Westminster Music Hall. Tickets are $10 dollars and available at various venues.
