West Union election might be unncessary

West Union has one ballot candidate for mayor and four ballot candidates for the four-seat town council. And because there’s no contest in either category, election officials are likely to cancel the April 1 town election altogether—unless a write-in candidate emerges in the next two weeks. The ballot was set today with Linda Oliver unopposed for re-election as mayor. In the field for the council seats are incumbents Dan Cappelen, Bethany Peay and Sharon Zimmerman, along with one newcomer, Chris Johnson.
