Westminster Man Faces Larceny Charges

A Westminster man has been arrested in connection with a July 26th larceny case in Seneca.  Jimmy Watt, Sheriff’s Department spokesman says 28 year old Dewayne Scott Brooks of Morton Drive, Westminster, was booked into the Oconee Detention Center Wednesday.  A deputy with the Uniform Patrol Division spoke with a complaintant on the morning of July 26th regarding a larceny in which a  wallet containing a driver’s license and ATM cards was taken from a vehicle earlier that morning in the parking lot of the BI-LO at BI-LO Place in Seneca. Surveillance pictures released were obtained from the Bank Of America branch in which the suspect was shown trying to obtain money from the ATM.    Investigators were able to determine from information received that Brooks was the subject in the pictures and warrants were obtained Wednesday charging Brooks with one count of Breaking into a Motor Vehicle, one count of Petit Larceny, two counts of Financial Transaction Card Fraud,  one count of Financial Transaction Card Theft, and one count of Criminally Receiving Goods. Investigators with the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the citizens of Oconee as well as the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office with their help and assistance in this case.
