What do you think of school spending?

Oconeeans next week get their annual chance to speak directly to the county trustees regarding what is to be spent during the next year on local public education. At their 6 p-m Monday meeting, the school board members will accept  comments and questions as part of their annual budget hearing. At last report, the board’s plan is to spend $88.6 million based on $86.8 million in revenues. To square expenses with revenue, the board is to draw from its fund balance. One hour before the start of the meeting, district officials will hold a groundbreaking ceremony at the highway 11 location for the new Walhalla High School. The public is invited.
