Who’s best to succeed Seneca’s Eddie Adams?

Four men have notified a committee in Columbia that they intend to apply and be screened for the open Third Congressional District seat on the South Carolina Department of Transportation Commission. It’s the seat vacated recently by the resignation of Seneca’s Eddie Adams. The hopefuls so far are Ray Gunnells of Honea Path, William Lowrish of Edgefield, Dr. Harry Stille of Due West, and Charles Wham Sr. of Anderson. The screening process includes an investigation and a public hearing conducted by the 10-member Joint Transportation Review Committee of the General Assembly. Only those found qualified by the committee may stand before the legislature for election. The DOT commission governs the work and policies of the department and the transportation secretary.
