Cain and Inabinett at forum

The two hopefuls for Seat Three, Oconee County Council took part in a League of Women Voters forum—eight days before special primary day April 1. And Andy Inabinett raised the question as to why his opponent, Paul Cain, would accept three, $1 thousand dollar contributions from Columbia-based political action committees. Inabinet said last night, “I don’t know why anybody would take PAC money from outside Oconee County for a council seat. When somebody gives you $1,000,they’re going to ask you for something.” Cain said he was glad to get the money, explaining that campaigning is expensive. And, after the forum, the attorney further explained, saying, “The Supreme Court has ruled that campaign contributions fall under freedom of speech.” And he added, “I wish Mr. Inabinet would respect that.”
