Wilson Burr’s political aspirations in 2016

The Oconee Public Defender, Wilson Burr, has tendered his resignation, effective December 31, and says he is considering a run next year for 10th Circuit Solicitor.  The office is now held by Chrissy Adams.  Burr this morning described his political plans for 2016 as exploratory and depends on further feedback he receives from the community.  Burr says he’s motivated to run because of his interest in combating the drug problem from the opposite side of the courtroom.  He believes he’ll have no problem making the switch from a defender of the accused to the prosecutor of the accused because of his previous experience in law enforcement.  “I was seven years in law enforcement before I went to law school,” he said.  Burr, a Seneca resident, said if he makes the race next year for Solicitor he will run as a Republican.
