Zoning change recommended at Seneca High

Preliminary approval has been received by the Oconee School District to put up a new sign on property at the Seneca High School.  After a hearing, the city planning commission last night recommended a change to highway commercial zoning for two acres of school district property.  Jason Streetman, city planner, said the sign will allow the district to promote athletic events and the names of local businesses that support the school.  One condition the planning commissioners are insisting on.  According to Streetman, the sign is to be a “static” sign.  An electric sign is prohibited.  The recommendation to change two acres from R-20 to highway commercial is subject to city council approval.
